Wednesday Hodgepodge

If you go here: http://joyce-fromthissideofthepond.blogspot.com/ you will find the pic that I was supposed to put here to follow along with this link. However, no matter how hard I tried, it would not publish the pic. Kept saying something was "broken". Then, I tried to post this several times, and somehow, it deleted itself. *Sigh* Here we go again. Forgive me. I'm new.

1. What makes you stand to your feet and cheer?

~ When Hubs hits a home run in softball :) Also, although I'm not literally standing, I am cheering on the inside when another orphan appears on the "My Family Found Me" page on reecesrainbow.org

2. What is your favorite patriotic song?

~ I love "Proud to be an American" by Lee Greenwood

3. Do you believe that opposites attract? If you have a significant other, are you opposites?

~ Yes, I do. Hubs and I are almost complete opposites. Here are just a few examples:

Him: Sports lover. He loves to watch just about every sport there is to watch, and also enjoys playing sports.

Me: Not so much

Me: I love to read. I will read anything, as long as it interests me.

Him: Not so much (unless it involves sports....)

Him: Laid back

Me: High strung

Him: Loves being outdoors

Me: I like being outdoors, but only under certain circumstances. And, camping? No thanks. I prefer a nice hotel.

Me: Deep thinker and feeler

Him: Just the facts

Him: Risk taker

Me: Rule follower (well....most of the time ;)

We are alike on the things that matter most though, and THAT is what counts!

4. You're going to get a behind the scenes look someplace....where would you like that someplace to be?

~ I would love to see how the magicians perform their unbelievable stunts, such as making buildings disappear. I know it isn't real, but it sure seems like it is!

5. How far would you have to travel to ride a carousel (merry-go-round)?

~ Since I'm assuming you don't mean the one built for toddlers at the local park, I would have to drive about an hour. I think they have one at the mall. I know. It's sad that I have to drive an hour to go to a mall.

6. When was the last time you saw fireworks? What was the occasion? Do you enjoy fireworks?

~It was probably the last 4th of July. Yes, I do enjoy them.

7. Of all the "beauty products" you own, what item do you consider to be the most overpriced?

~ I think they all are! LOL Probably the one I consider most overpriced for the amount you get would be concealer. Since the older I get, the more necessary that little jar becomes, I buy it anyway. Mama doesn't do the "natural" look.

8. Insert your own random thought.

~ My oldest daughter is away at Summer camp. We are supposed to write the kids "letters" that we email to them. Since they are not allowed to be on the computer, they receive the letters, but they never answer them. It is very strange to write someone who never writes you back.

Me: "How was your day?"
Her: *Silence*

Me: "Are you having fun?"
Her: *Sound of crickets*

Me: "Did you make any new friends?"
Her: *Still nothing*

You get the picture.

  3. I hope your daughter has a great week at camp. I remember letters from home when I was a kid at camp. Hopefully she will answer all your questions when she gets home! lol
    Have a great day!

  4. Whenever they get home from camp, I try to remember what it was that I asked them about, so I can finally get some answers :) They really look forward to getting them, and makes them feel a little less lonely. My one daughter said that at mail time, she always feels a bit sad if she doesn't have any, so we make sure to write! Betty, I'm not sure I would continue writing someone who never wrote me back :( That's dedication!

  5. I agree, magic tricks would be fun to learn how they're done.

The letters to kids at camp is strange. Either do letters or email, not some combo where they can't answer. Weird. When my kids went on mission's trips or to camp I would make them a card or letter for each day they were gone. I would number them and tuck them in their suitcases. I, obviously, didn't expect an answer, but want to send love and encouragement each day they were away. Sometimes there would be a few buck tucked inside, or a stick of gum or something small. It was fun!

    Happy 4th!

  7. I've got to go check out the Reece's Rainbow page - sounds like something that would touch my soul.

I'm with you on "Proud To Be An American" - I choke up every.single.time. It's gotten a little embarrassing.

The only place this mama goes au natural is to bed!!!
